MEET DR. YASUKO “ MAKO” STEPHENS

Dr. Yasuko “Mako” Stephens received her B.A. degree in Agriculture and Land Development from Nihon University in Tokyo, Japan and studied Biology at San Diego State University. She completed her Post Graduate internships at both Iowa State University School of Veterinary Medicine in Ames, Iowa and Animal Medical Center in New York, NY. In 1993, Dr. Stephens graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, West Indies and that same year completed an internship in Zoo Medicine and Surgery at Tulsa Zoological Park in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Dr. Stephens began practicing veterinary medicine in Honolulu, Hawaii and stayed there for 5 years. She then moved to California where she has practiced since 1999. Dr. Stephens’s strong points include her excellent surgical skills including laser, soft tissue and some orthopedic surgery. She has an interest in exotics, endoscopy and internal medicine. In her spare time, Dr. Stephens loves to surf and spend time with her 2 dogs “Spike” and “Seth” plus “Clifford a panther chameleon.
